Buying guides

Buying guides

The questions that decide what you buy before anyone talks about brands: what drives the cost, where the video lives, and whether an alarm should be watched. No prices, and no answer that does not depend on your site.

In this section

Three guides

  1. What drives the cost of a commercial security system

The variables that decide a system’s price, and why an accurate figure needs a survey.

  2. Cloud versus on-premise video management

Retention, outages, cost shape and procurement rules, set side by side. We install both.

  3. Monitored versus unmonitored alarm systems

What each option actually does, and why verified against unverified is the real question.

Where the detail already lives

These guides answer the questions that decide a commercial system, without a sales position. We install both sides of every comparison listed here, and the cost guide deliberately contains no prices.

Much of the rest is written into the pages it applies to, because that is where a buyer tends to look for it. The commercial services pages carry the technical detail for each discipline, and the industries pages carry the same material arranged by the problem a particular kind of building has. Procurement eligibility is under compliance, sourced crime and loss figures under statistics, and the operational layer — retention, interoperability, power, recorders — on the blog.

If you are trying to answer a specific question and cannot find it, call and ask. We would rather give you a straight answer than have you guess from a page that was not written for your situation.

Start with a site survey

We walk the building, put the findings in writing, and scope the work against what we actually find. No obligation, and no quote written from a floor plan.
