Where we work
Service area
San Diego County is where most of the work is and where we are based. Beyond it, coverage is a question of the size of the job, not a line on a map, so this page says what is actually true instead of drawing a radius we would not honour.
What that means in practice
Three bands, not a boundary
San Diego County is the primary area. We are based at7561 Convoy Ct in Kearny Mesa, which is central to the county and close to the industrial and commercial corridors most of our work sits in. This is where we take jobs of any size, including the small service calls that are not worth anybody's travel time from further out.
California is the secondary area, for larger projects. Our licences are statewide and we travel for work that justifies it. The corridor north from San Diego towards Sacramento is the route we are on most often, so sites along it are more straightforward to service than the mileage alone suggests. What makes a project workable at distance is its size and how many visits it needs, not how far away it is.
Outside California, we do not work. CSLB and BSIS are California licences and neither authorises work in another state. For a client with sites in several states we can take the California portion and you would need a licensed contractor elsewhere.
You will notice there is no radius on this page and no arrival time by area. Those are the things a service-area page usually invents, and we would rather tell you the shape of the answer and let you ask about your specific site than publish a number that turns out not to hold.
Where a town has its own page, it is because there is something specific and checkable to say about it: who polices it and what its own alarm ordinance requires, because that differs from city to city. The cities with a page are El Cajon, Escondido and Encinitas; districts of the City of San Diego are under San Diego.
Schematic
The shape of it
A diagram, not a survey. It shows the relationship between the base and the corridor we work along. It is not a coverage boundary and there is no line on it, because there is no line.
The map above is a schematic. San Diego County is the primary area and the corridor is the route travelled for larger projects — it is not to scale and it is not a boundary.
What travels and what does not
Distance changes small jobs more than large ones
The thing that decides whether a site outside the county works is not the mileage. It is the ratio of travel to work. A multi-week installation absorbs a long drive at the start and end of each stage; a two-camera fault call does not, and pretending otherwise produces either a bad price for you or a job we resent, and usually both.
So the practical position is this. Larger installations, multi-site rollouts for an organisation with several California locations, and projects with a procurement or compliance dimension are worth the distance and we take them. Small service calls a long way out usually are not, and where that is the case we will say so rather than quote a number designed to make you decline. That is not a policy we enjoy explaining, but it is more use to you than a map with a circle on it.
One thing does not vary by geography: we work on commercial premises only and not on private residences. Managed residential property is in scope — common areas, garages, lobbies and entry systems on apartment and HOA sites are commercial work — and the interior of an individual dwelling is not, in any city, at any distance. The full service set is on all commercial security and low voltage services, and the verticals we work in are on all industries.
Credentials
Licensed in California, and only in California
Our authority to work is the licence, and the licence is a state one. Here is what we hold and which agency to check it with.
- #976737
- C-7 Low Voltage SystemsCamera installation and repair, structured and data cabling, intercom, communication and signal systems, and the audio/video wiring the rest of it runs on.Verify at cslb.ca.gov
- ACO #7501
- Alarm Company OperatorThe licence California requires to sell, install, service and monitor alarm systems. It covers monitored CCTV and access control as well as intrusion alarm work.Verify at search.dca.ca.gov
- PPO #121089
- Private Patrol OperatorHeld through Guardian Integrated Security, Inc., of which we are a DBA. Guard and patrol work is Guardian’s lane: where a site needs a posted guard we coordinate, and we do not sell guard services under this brand.
- No C-10 · No C-16
- Electrical and fire protectionWe do not hold a C-10 or C-16, so we do not work on fire alarm systems; that is coordinated with your own licensed fire alarm contractor. We list this beside the licences rather than leaving you to discover it.
San Diego CCTV Pros is a DBA of Guardian Integrated Security, Inc. The licences are held by Guardian and appear that way on the state records, so that is the name you will find when you look them up. Commercial premises only, and not private residences. Working since 2008.
Common questions
Service area questions
It depends on the job and it is settled in the quote, not on this page. What we will not do is publish a mileage rate or a travel band, because the honest answer varies with the size of the work and how many visits it needs. A single-day service call two hours away and a multi-week install in the same town are different propositions. Ask when you enquire and we will tell you before you commit to anything.
Often not, and it is fairer to say so than to quote a price that makes the answer no. Distance changes the economics of a short job much more than a long one, so a two-camera service call several hours away is usually better handled by somebody local, and we will say that instead of taking the work. Larger projects are a different calculation, which is why we travel statewide for those and not for everything.
No. Our contractor licences are California licences: CSLB is the California Contractors State License Board and BSIS is the California Bureau of Security and Investigative Services. Neither authorises work in another state. Where a client has sites in several states we can talk about the California portion, and you would need a licensed contractor in the others.
We work on commercial premises only and not on private residences, and that is a scope limit instead of a geographic one. It applies identically in every city we work in. Managed residential property is a different case: common areas, garages, lobbies and entry systems on apartment and HOA property are commercial work and are in scope, while the interior of an individual dwelling is not, anywhere, at any price.
